My Story
I'm Dawn. Mum to two little girls, wife, paramedic and author of the children's book series Panda Paramedic (and of course dog lover, but that feels a little like saying oxygen breather, surely everyone loves dogs?!). As a paramedic I see everyday, first hand, how important first aid and knowledge of what to do in a medical emergency is for people. Yet time and time again I come across people with very little, or no knowledge, of how to manage the most basic of medical emergencies. I believe everybody needs to have basic first aid knowledge and be empowered to act to help others during a medical emergency. And who better to start educating than our next generation of little lifesavers!
Panda Paramedic is a series of childrens books, aimed at upper KS1, lower KS2 age children (approx 6yr-9yr). Think a cross between Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam, but a Panda Paramedic version! Designed to be fun and informative, whilst teaching children (and their grown ups!) basic lifesaving skills. The books are illustrated by the very talented Hannah Robinson and the first three books in the series are available now!
Along with the books I go into schools teaching pupils of all ages first aid. You are never too young, or indeed too old, to learn first aid. You could just save a life!
